Mytob Spreading Rapidly

According to Symantec Mytob is spreading quite rapidly.

[quote - news.com]
Like other iterations of Mytob, the two latest versions are distributed via mass e-mail campaigns, feature so-called backdoor capabilities, and attack computers running Microsoft's Windows operating system. The worm uses its own SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) engine to forward itself to e-mail addresses that it gathers from infected computers. The threat also spreads by exploiting the Local Security Authority Service Remote Buffer Overflow in Windows, an opening that Microsoft has already addressed in its periodic security updates.

Spam Ya Back

IBM has developed an app called FairUCE. Its designed to find the originating source of SPAM and send it righ back to said source. What this means is, it won't send the spam back to the e-mail address that it came from, but the server it originated from.

My only concern with this, if a virus turns your computer into a Spam server, does this try and send the mail back to your computer? That could seriously cripple internet traffic and potentially render the entire internet slow in the long run. Spam acocunts for a ton of traffic as it is, returning Spam just doubles that...

If it works whoever, Spam servers will be cirppled and thus no more Spam to send back. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
